Red River Valley Railroad Historical Society, Inc.

The Red River Valley Railroad Historical Society, Inc. was founded in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1981 by a small but dedicated group of railroad enthusiasts. The goals of the society are to establish a railroad museum containing railroad artifacts, memorabilia, documents and photographs, and to enjoy railroad related activities such as train rides, photography and train operation. Currently, the society is involved in preserving its rolling stock and operating the live steam railroad at the American Rose Center during the Christmas season. The society has collected a large inventory of railroad material and owns several items of rolling stock including steam locomotive 1140, a diesel switch engine, caboose, coach, baggage car, dining car and motor car. Meetings are held at 7 pm on the third Friday of every month in the auditorium at the Glen Retirement Village, 403 East Flournoy Lucas Road, Shreveport, LA. The Glen Retirement Village is located on the south side of Flournoy Lucas Road between Ellerbe Road and Youree Drive (Highway 1).Call 631-9164 or 797-8008 for information.
